A Whisper I couldn’t refuse...

I came across a deal on this CZ I couldn’t refuse. A local Doctor had it built but didn’t like the group it would shoot with light bullets. It came with 1” Leupold rings and 40 rounds of Corbon 220’s. I added the bipod. I also had to pull the barrel and rethread it to 5/8X24 for my AAC 762SD. I hope to get to the range tonight to see how it shoots. Now when I get My Savage barrel from a member here Ill have 2 bolt action Whispers. I might have to sell 1 so I can get going on a AR upper.

I still haven’t pulled the trigger on the CZ. I hope to get to the range tomorrow night. I caught a cold from hell and there has been some stuff come out of my nose that even scares me.:eek::eek:

Well I finally put some rounds down range last night.
This setup is amazingly quite. At the gun all you hear is the firing pin drop and a puff of air, then the thud of the round hitting. All I had for ammo was the 220gr Corbon it came with.

Now I need to find some good glass to put on it.
Has anyone tried the Nikon with the BDC Reticle I wondered if any of the hold overs would work with 300 whisper.
How much drop is there from 100 to 200 yards?

I use the Nikon 4-16(20)? Mildot.
Very pleased w/it.

You can check the ballistics of your load using a ballistic calculator. I have found the one here:

http://www.eskimo.com/~jbm/calculations/traj/traj.html

works very well. 300-221 fireball (a.k.a. 300 Whisper) sub-sonic loads have very similar ballistics as a 22LR. Several people have reported pretty good success with the Pride-Fowler rapid reticle:

Good Luck

Keep us posted on how the Cz works out. I've built 5 rifles using the Remington 799's and they were all pretty nice but then I found the Cz and decided that is the one. I've got a rifle and just need to get to work building the barrel and suppressor. I like the lightweight and smaller action as well as the extractor and ejector system. The mag kindof sucks but you can't have it all, yet. The 700 is a nice rifle but the Cz is so much nicer.....be nice to have real info from an owner.

Thanks
Frank
