M9M4 HYBRID for SPECIAL FORCES

M9M4 HYBRID BAYONET ... 5 UNITS MADE FOR M4 CARBINE MODEL COMMANDO / BARREL LENGTH 11.5 Made for SPECIAL FORCES / URBAN COMBAT
In June of 2008 , I started a prototype project to adapt an M9 BAYONET to fit on an M4 CARBINE with a barrel length of 11.5. It was necessary for me to ask to my friend Joe ANVIL for his help, he is a “SPECIALIST of C.Q.B.” For the assembly of this M9M4 HYBRID , we equipped an M4 CARBINE with a special flash hider, I selected a flash hider model “PHANTOM” made by YANKEE HILL MACHINE. This M9M4 HYBRID design seemed to be the logical result of a special request from my friend and policeman Phil' Louis. Phil' could benefit from an URBAN KNIFE FIGHT (type : PHROBIS C.U.K) and at the same be able use this modified knife as a bayonet or conversely. In fact, not too long and not too short for a fight in a tiny room environment or a stair well in a building or house . For evaluation and testing , three of these M9M4 HYBRID will be given to Sirs Barry BROWN (Owner of M9 Lan-Cay Company), Homer M. BRETT ( MARINE Veteran , Historian & Consultant for the U.S. military) ... and the third, to my American Uncle , Santa Claus. http://www.m9m4.com/index.cfm?currentpage=41 |
A very interesting project!
Am I correct saying that the final "hybrid" blade came from a standard M9 blade that was cut at the end? http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/2215/67304991qv4.jpg I would be interested to see pictures of the disassembled bayonet and how the tang rod was attached to the modified blade. |
Yes! and see the handle in the middle !
|
Yes, the handle is shorter too... didn't notice this before :o
If I were you I would now run to the patent office! |
I have to agree with Carlos.....the idea is a good one and perhaps should be patented.
Not only because of the rifle attachment, but because of the size. http://www.m9m4.com/p1/PHROBIS-C-U-K...ULFWAR-002.jpg Since todays military actions have been in arid regions, were foliage is not much of an issue, many are choosing smaller knives to help them along their way. Not to mention the U.S. Navy Seals, and others who have special needs. I think the Phrobis C.U.K. is the perfect size for those who appreciate the fixed blade knife under the above conditions, and many others. I make a Custom Military Combat knife with the M9 bayonet as my original inspiration. http://www.relentlessknives.com/news...les/M1MAPc.jpg The ability to attach it to your rifle, along with the ability to change the whole deal around if needed is excellent. Great Idea Mr. Moon. |
I would like to see a photo of it mounted on your 11.5-inch upper.

You are very welcomed! The advise you were given on that thread about the Israeli M16 Carbines that have something between 11.5 and 14.5-inch barrels is a very good point.
This little knife would be perfect for those uppers and the bayonet may have limited actual combat use but for crowd control or watching prisoners it have very viable uses and a shorter carbine would be more difficult to get away from someone then a longer carbine or rifle. Good Luck again with your project, I really do like it! |
