Last two photos from the auction!
|
This knife sold for $480 and FWIW I really would have expected it to sell for more then that. I guess the poor economy has at least a little to do with it as that sure is a tough knife to get.
|
FYI, the bayonet did not sell for $480.00, the auction closed not meeting my reserve.
I would have to say your comment on the economy is spot on…….. |
Thanks for the correction! I try to keep a note of these and that sure was a lot less then I would have expected fro that knife.

... After the very high prices that we met the last year, today an M9 FIRST generation was sold for 560 $...
The market of the " rare " M9 seems to be in tooth of saw .. (info ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190313196383 ... ... In the same way, that for one of 166 chevron add (the numbered 107) who was sold to 1085 $, knowing that the last year, the two or three, oscillated near 800 in 900 $..... |
Do you mean the similar one of 166 Chevron was sold for $900 last year?
My memory was they were sold for around $1500..... Quote:

There were two or three that sold about a year ago. They all sold in the $800-850 range.
|
I listed a numbered "chevron" M9 on Ebay back in April. It was #159 & sold for $600.00, with only one bid. Must have been a bad week (for me!).
|
Sorry,
in my previous message I was referring to the un-numbered chevrons, as Mr Moon link was to one of these auctions. |

Initially, I purchased the Trials copies of Eickhorn and the rejected Ontario XM9 bayonets and they arrived in Canadian customs 3 weeks ago. BUT.... I have been in contact with CanadaPost and they finally informed me that there was a small fire in the Sortation Plant in Mississauga. My Trials bayonets arrived there a few weeks ago but they never cleared customs and now I have been told that they could have been burnt in a small fire, or at least the outside labels (shipper/receiver) were burned/blackened so they cannot be shipped or returned to sender. Canada will "dispose" of the "undeliverable packages" after a short while...:mad::twoguns::twoguns: To make me feel better, I decided to spend some money on the No.9 Buck bayonet. Life can suck sometimes when beautiful and rare examples of bayonets are destroyed by the post office... Here's hoping that at least I get the No.9 bayonet. |
Amen.

I'm so sorry to hear this! Do not give up....try to find out your bayonets! I have only a small suggestion: when buying valuable items I always use a private courier and not the standard USPS post. I spend more but I always get my packages. |

The final price seems a little bit on the "high" side. Sure this bayonet is rare (in this configuration), but it was sold for more than the XM9. |

Normally, I would like to have a courier company deliver the bayonet, but that is a problem -- at least in Canada. Here, courier companies classify the bayonet as a "weapon", although the current governmental import law states that is is completely legal to ship. Regardless, courier companies will refuse to ship the item (FedEx, UPS, DHL, Purolator...) if they know it is a bayonet. The only safe way to ship is USPS. When it enters Canada, the local Canadian postal system (CanadaPost) rightfully knows the proper import laws and allows the safe trasnsport of bayonets within the country. I have had previous bayonet sales stalled since UPS would not accept the item to ship to Canada. Just my crappy luck that the major time I needed an expensive item sent by USPS, the postal system had a fire at the import office in Canada. Additionally, I am at the mercy of the seller. Every time, I say that I will spend all extra money to get Express Mail from USPS, which is the safest to Canada, but most sellers from the US refuse and do not like this -- they will only ship Priority, such as this case, even though I said I will pay them for all Express costs. I wish I was more adamant with the seller to have Express.... |
Broad Arrow: The fire you referred to is a most unfortunate incident. However, from your comments it does not appear the carrier (USPS) was culpable here. I, for one, will never ship anything via UPS (United Parcel Service), unless a buyer insists on it. Over the years I have heard more horror stories of damaged, stolen, etc. collectables sent via this carrier. This includes signatures of delivery which were falsified as "proof" items were delivered, to cover up internal theft.
On the other hand, I have never had a problem with the USPS. As for the missing bayonets, I would be hounding whomever is responsible for overseeing the disposition of the damaged mail & parcels, insisting they produce your items or evidence they were destroyed. I think it is a lot of B.S. them telling you they will destroy all mail just because they cannot see or read a delivery address. You can provide proof the bayonets were bought & shipped to you, so if they run across them, they can complete delivery... |
If this happened to me I'd be at the Mississauga station demanding to look through the damaged parcels.

I have been in contact with CanadaPost about the potentially burnt package and I was getting the run-around. My brother lives 2 hours away from Mississauga and he actually drove to the Sortation Plant and started to create quite a stir on my behalf. As a result, my brother had them do a physical search and -- voila -- my package was located with the full shipping label intact. Since the package is addressed to me, my brother could not pick it up in person but it has now officially cleared customs and I should see it in a few days. When it arrives, I will take some photos! :nanabang::nanabang::nanabang: |
"The squeaky wheel gets the grease" as they say. Also a round of cheers for your brother going the extra yard in your behalf.

Hello to all:
It is well known, odd numbered by BUCK commercial sold, but the even numbered has gone to phrobis. These even numbered rarely be sold, so the even numbered is more precious. I was told that this set of bayonet (in this configuration) just made 25 sets plaque by PHROBIS in 1987,It is true barrel of Military M16. Others commemorative edition barrel is the plastic . The plaque of #012 is precious and perfect than odd numbered etc, the price is worth[/QUOTE] |
It's very Good!

This time I establish the highest price is $4550 for the #012, I am very regrettable that Mr.Carlo is driving up the final price past the $3438.67 mark. If later will appear others in this configuration, I will continue to compete the racket and it's price will not be lower than $3600 .
|
Quote:
Mr Carlo was not "driving up" the price, but just bidding like everyone else. Should one more of these M9s be available for sale, I'm sure you'll have a gorgeous duplicate in your collection! |
:smile:We like M9

Just out of curiosity: was the bayonet sold? Was the price asked lower (I hope) than the one from the 2009 ebay auction above? |
...our winner, is here http://www.arms-cool.net/forum/thread-2660-3-2.html
|
I don't think that is the same plaque that Carlo is referring to.
|
Right, there's not the attach sling.
...maybe here so : Thanks again for the outstanding customer service! Buyer: sioncool ( 285) Jul-21-09 21:05 US Army Commemorative Phrobis M9 Chevron Bayonet knife (#370219556621)....... US $3,488.67 |

In my previous message I quoted a message with the image from the 2009 ebay auction just to have a quick reference to the model I was referring to. |
