Now, as for the 257-7mm Rem Mag wildcat. It would be a rocket of a rifle but it will also need a really long barrel as I am not sure you can get away with even a 26-inch barrel with many powders in a case that big pusing a 257 slug. Then again, all fun project come with some costs and it would be a fairly easy wildcat for most gunsmiths!

.257 scramjet

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this one? From what I have heard it was made in findland on a seko action but I don't know much about it. I just want a short mag in .25 cal.

Wow... I would love to see what that would do to a small furry groundhog... Then again, my 243 with 55-gr Nosler BTs are moving at just over 4000-fps and there ain't a while lot left after one of those explode :eek:

I am working towards putting a 257 STW together for my attempt at 4000 fps.

I have a Savage 7MM STW that I plan on making it a switch barrel gun. I will obtain a Douglas or Pac-Nor barrel chambered and threaded with lock nut, probably about 30" long and in a heavy varmint taper. With a 100 grn Berger or similar bullet I should be able to doe this.

I am iputting my gun fund back together from the 7mm STW purchase and should be able to start this project first of 08.

Hey Tuck, on your comment about the 25wssm...did you mean case life is shorter with these cases? I heard that once before in Precision Shooting magazine just a couple months ago and was wondering if anyone else had that problem. I have a 25, but have only loaded the cases a couple times so I don't know how many reloads to expect.
