Favorite bullet for supersonic hunting?

What are your favorite bullets for deer hunting in the 300-221 with supersonic bullets. Just curious to see what people are using.

Another consideration is the Sierra 125g 30-30 bullet #2020.
I get about 1 1/2" groups w/18.4g of H110 @ 2150 fps.
I hunt hogs & Sierra recommended these bullets as we're shooting about 30-30 velocities & these will open up, stay together & penetrate.
Not as accurate or flat shooting as the others but a good option for "heavier/thicker" animals.

I think the Barnes *tipped* triple shock is the one you mean, but that only comes in 130gr and up.

I have not shot any animals with them yet, but the 110 Vmax make a nice slug in my test media (jugs). It will be the first one I'll test.

Cav Scout,
You are correct. I didn't even notice that I put it as a 125g bullet. It should read 130g. Botched that one.:o

Berger bullets

For large deer I would consider bullets in the 150 to 180 gr weight. I also think that some of the Berger bullets in the 110 -180 gr range would also make this list.

It is such a problem.... so many bullets to choose from.

I did see this, they shoot some bullets at 300 whisper velocity. Barnes did not expand as much as I would like:

Favorite for me is the 155 gr. Hornady Amax. Was getting 1950 fps out of a 16" 1/8 twist barrel using chopped 223 cases. Two shots two deer that didn't make it 30 yds. One at 45 yds, one at 217 yds - still got the tip to expand on the long shot.

I'm currently in the process of deciding myself, I have a 10.5" and can get 125s up to 2000fps and 155s up to 1750. I don't want something thats gonna fragment real bad and make a big mess and not penetrate deep enough to fragment in the right spot(heart/lungs). I'm considering cutting down some 150gr 30-30 barnes to 125gr and tip them so they feed.

Any recomendations?

Jon

Before you start cutting and tipping, try 130gr Tipped TSX The question is can you get enough velocity to expand?

100gr Barnes Flat tip
This is the bullet Corbon uses in their 30 Carbine:

Its a balancing act. I shot some bullets out of my 9.5" whisper into old computer books. The 110Vmax got mangled pretty good. The 150gr CT penetrated the most, but jacket and core separated.

I think a 125 Bonded bullet would work well, I want to try the 150 Nosler Accubond, or 150 Hornady Interbond.

that .30 carb bullet might show some potential! I could probably get that cooking up to 2200fps. I'd probably tip it for a higher BC and for feeding(tips do nothing for expansion).

from the article linked above, I don't think the 130 barnes ttsx is the right option. I'd be able to hit 2000fps max with that bullet.
