gas ports

well, I got my upper from model 1. I am going to shoot this barrel for awhile then build a sbr with a match barrel.
in the mean time Im going to shoot this with some 240 smk subsonic loads (yes its 1 in 8 twist).
any body have one that cycles with the carbine gas port location? what size did you increase the gas port to?
and what powder?
thanks AZFRED

AZfred,
I have the same Model 1 upper that you mentioned. I measured the gas port and it is already at its max. ( @ .125). I am waiting on the suppressor before I do any more load development.

Are you going to use a suppressor?
Are you only going to run sub sonic rounds?

I will post some results as soon as the suppressor gets here and I get a little time on the range.

Hello whisper community

I am a swiss user that bought many years ago a complete .300 whisper-AR15 upper. This is my first post and i want to anticipate my apology for my horrible english language knowledge.
I have a DSC upper assemby with 16"-barrel and gas port in carbine position. I shot only one time or tried to do so with the only available ammunition 220 grains RUAG Swiss P in combination with a Bruegger&Thomet silencer. The bolt carrier was not capable to eject the spent case and opened only just to half of its opening way.
The lower has a buffer and recoil spring of a factory 16"-Bushmaster XM15-E2S.
I don't no the dimensions of barrel gas port and the size of the gas port at the front sight. But i red on this forum that the best size with carbine position gas tube is .125?!?!

Do you have any proposition what i can do to make my upper functioning with the 220 grains?

Thank you anticipate for your competent answers.

Best regards, libertyswiss.
