300/221 pistol upper
 

Got to try out the 10" barrel on a upper today and the recoil was very manageable. Think I am going to like it. This one isn't going to have a gas system so will decide later whether to leave it a bull or not.

Thought I would add if you get the Pacific Tool reamer you will need to turn the necks if using 223 brass.

Very nice. What were you shooting through it....subsonic ?

Thanks Spook. Actually supersonic although I didn't actually clock any of them. Its a 1:10 and still a work in progress. Possible family member deer gun. I will try to locate a reasonable 1:8 blank for the subsonic barrel.

Can I ask where you got that barrel? I have been looking for a 10" 300/221 barrel and can't find one.

A new job has me a little slow responding to the forums I am on. Started making my own AR barrels a while back and that was one of the pistol ones that I did. Was pleased with the 1500 fps it did but it is naturally loud like most AR pistols unless you put a suppressor on it. I am not setup to make barrels for the public at this time though so I can't help you out. Somebody else here may be able to make a recommendation.

I am going on 15 months since I put a deposit (50%) down on a 10.5" barrel from Randall. I was quoted 6-8 months. :mad: Now I am trying to get my deposit back.......

He has the absolute worst customer service/communication of anyone I have ever dealt with.

I have heard that alot on some of the boards over the last year or so about Randall. He posts regularly on m4carbine.net.

Yeah, I was looking at his website and it hasn't been updated since 2005. He uses leftovers from other projects to build pistol barrels and their between $225 and $275. He doesn't even know what he has in stock. I had heard that the 300/221 rifle barrels that Del-ton sells use a pistol length gas tube. If that is the case, I may buy one and have it cut down to 12".

I make 30/221 bbls for a living.For over 15 years now, and have customers you would know by name.So for 30/221 bbl the ? is what length,material (SS or cromoly),gas system usually pistol gas tube and profile.This is assuming the 8"
twist for rifling.Costs are around $250 Cromo to $325 SS.Barrel blanks cost from
$150 cromo to $200 SS just for the blank so the quoted above prices aren't that bad.You get what you pay for.If you want cheaper go the model 1 or kotonics
route.If you want a cromo shorty bbl I do have stubs available.The SS stubs
are gone.I can make you a shorty ~10" or so cromo for $150 using a douglas
blank.This does not include finishing.Simple parkerising $20.Time frame about a week.There is a shortage of bbl extensions needed to make an ar barrel now.No bbl extension you can't make a barrel.I do have a few,but things are a bit screwy out there.regards.

What I want is a 10" cromoly barrel. Parkerised. Pistol length gas tube, but not pistol profile. 8" twist. What is the total and where do I send the check?

Mike Brown of Jet Suppressors can get Mike Rock barrels (1 in 8 twist) in 2-3 weeks, any lengths you want.
