HooRAAAA! I finally got it.
My RLL paperwork finally came in and I picked up the link and select-fire kit yesterday. I got out to test fire it this morning. :uzi2:
I love it..... Here's a pic. http://www1.snapfish.com/slideshow/A...30/t_=25870130 I used one of those new Gen2 POF lowers. You can get them with select-fire, full-auto markings. They work great in this RLL application. I added a magpul CTR stock, 7.3" CMMG upper with YHM free-float rail. On the front, I have a Noveske KX3. With the Noveske on, the 7" barrel works flawlessly in full auto. No pig-tails or other gadgets needed. I only ran two 30-rd mags through it so far....but I'm glad i'm stocked up on ammo. This thing burns through it real fast! :nanabang: |
Where are you guys finding these things at? I've been looking for one for a while to no avail. What do they go for these days anyway?
|
I feel I got kinda lucky. I found one right in my home state of PA, and was able to do an easy form4 transfer between the seller and myself. The seller advertized it on Sturmgewehr.com. I paid $6900. That included a select-fire kit. (Good deal in my opinion)

There was one for sale last week on Sturm for $7K - you gotta check daily because sometimes they're gone in minutes. Mine was $6.4K about a year ago, for just the RLL. Making it select-fire is a fun project.

Here's another one for sale - just now saw it

Congrats and welcome to the club... I don't run mine much in anything other then 223 or 7.62x39 but I do have a 9mm upper that does work with the link...
I think you got a real good deal on the link. |
Has anyone ever got one working with a 308? I am really hoping I can get it to work with that new POF gas piston 308 they are coming out with.
|
I posted a WTB add on Sturmgewehr and AR15 and had at least 15 offers. Most were around $7500 for just the link. However, I had one guy sell me a Colt 7.62x39 host rifle and the link for $7500. I think that was a good deal.
In regards to getting the RLL to work with .308, if you look further on this site, Quarterbore discusses getting his to run with a .308 AR. |
I have been real busy with a "new" job for the past couple years now so I really have not done more with converting the AR-10 to use the link. Details of what I was looking at are posted in the following thread:
http://www.quarterbore.net/forums/showthread.php?t=167 A higher priority for me is to get ahold of one of the Bushmaster 22LR uppers to see if I can modify that bolt to run with the link. A full auto 22LR using the link would be something I would get real excited about as where I live now I am reduced to shooting at indoor ranges... So, my UZI gets used a lot and the link sits in the safe  |
Yea...22lr would be a blast. Especially, running it through a can. I dropped an email to m60Joe and he said he is currently working on modifying the Ciener. I really hope someone gets it worked out.

Gun nut you did get a good deal, especially with the selectfire kit included
I just saw this one on Sturm (not mine) http://www.sturmgewehr.com/webBBS/nf...cgi?read=85851 Kinda pricey, but it never hurts to make an offer. Also saw a Registered Receiver AR yesterday for not much more - Steve |

Also, don't hesitate to use 9mm with the link IF you use it in conjunction with the KNS RLL Protector. Brooks over there said that 9mm used to break the links but the protector takes all the abuse instead of the link. It also helps to run a Q buffer with an extra power recoil spring. They take alot of wind out of the brutal 9mm blowbacks wind. DW |
