Changes to the REGISTRATION PROCESS - Problems with bots!
I have made some changes to the server that should make it a little more challanging for the bots to get onto the site. If this does not fix the problem I will be be moderating the approval of all new members to the site.
As part of the new changes I have set the system to require an e-mail verification. Many e-mail applications will automatically block e-mails from people that are not in your address book and I had a lot of problems in the past and this was why I deactivated this feature in the past. Well, given the SPAM bots we have experienced over the past few weeks I have no chice but to turn this back on... Also, I really could use some help if anybody is interested in becoming a moderator on the site... My life has just been way too busy and I have not been real quick to respond to the bot invasion at times... I will be looking to see if I can add a new layer to the registration process that will make it harder for these computers from registering... It isn't so hard to confuse a computer but it does take time to get it done! If anybody is interested, post a reply and I can get a couple people on the site that will help remove these annoying posts quicker... Thanks, Ken |
Quarterbore,
Check your PM's. I'd be happy to jump in the battle against spambots. John (TXGunGeek) |
