If you are interested in exactly how United States Patent 4,458,420 relates to the M-9, just let me know. I am the owner/inventor of '420, and I can assure there is far more to the M-9 story than you have ever heard. I have been waiting over 20 years to tell my part of the M-9 history, so maybe this is my chance. Just let me say for now that I have personal correspondence from Charles Buck, wherein he refuses to license my patent, because it is designed for the purpose of fighting. This letter is dated well before Buck ever manufactured a military knife, and even at such time as the Army had no official issue bayonet. I mean exactly, precisely what I just said, and this is not a hoax.
