Did not find a specific post on this so figured I would ask with a poll.

What Length are you running for .300 blk in AR15?

What position is Gas port, pistol position or shorter?

Does it cycle without can for subsonic?

I have 16" barrel with carbine gas port and like it a lot, but I have an SBR and want to get one hopefully before next year hunting season, and trying to figure the most used lenght.

I originally purchased a 16" Barrel from Tom (tp155) at Paladin Machine Service. Now that I received my SBR tax stamp, I had Tom cut it to 10.5", and rethread for a supressor.

I am also using Paladin Machine's Adjustable 3-position gas blocks; The adjustability of the gas block is nice, but I thought it was a pain in the ass to switch the gas black from supersonic to subsonic all the time; you never have a screwdriver when you need one! I was able to develop my handloads to cycle subsonic loads with my supressor using the supersonic gas port setting.

ETA: (I am running a pistol length gas system)

10" TP555 barrel with his adjustable gas block in the pistol position. It cycles just about everything.

11.5 TP555 , pistol position W/adj gasblock....could not be more pleased.

I have to add a little off my low end charges to cycle w/o the can

10 inch M1S Fireball converted to 300BLK. Pistol location (by customer request when ordering) gas port.

I built an internal suppressor around it and it functions great!

I started with an 8" barrel (gas at pistol position), ,it was very loud, even suppressed and subsonic - but subs were stable. I sold the 8-inch for a 12-inch and am much happier with it. It is more accurate, much quieter, and still quite compact.

I have a friend with a Noveske running a 16" barrel (gas at the carbine position), his is louder than mine.

My gun (12" barrel) loves lil gun loads and is very quiet. The friend's likes my load but won't cycle it. His rifle likes 1680 but is considerably louder than the lil gun loads (same bullet.)

The shorter you go, the louder it gets, assuming all other things equal.

That is good info. thanks. i use 1680 and 2400 for my loads and they have worked pretty well for subs and supers out of a 16in barrel

I am using a 9 inch Whisper with Shark Ti Suppressor.

Pistol length gas.

It runs fine with subs and supersonic, both FA and semi.

7.5" of my own design, 0.125" gas tap at 4.7" I have some issues with cycling when loading short rounds (to make mags stack properly). I am currently trying to work out a load that will cycle 100%.

When I load rounds to 2.20" OAL I have no cycling problems but the rounds don't stack well in the mag and I can't get FA fire to work properly when more than about 15 rounds are loaded in a mag.

It will not cycle subsonic without a suppressor.
