It'll be interesting to see how they got by the ejection issue. Price?

I had to work on mine a bit to iron it out too. there are a couple tweaks to the ejector, lengthening the slot on the ejector, filing the end of the ejector square, to move the contact point closer to the center of the case. another mod used in extreme cases is to make a mushroom ejector which again moves the contact point closer to the center.
So maybe they used one of these.

does the .223 have the same issues? Or have enough of the Savage shooters figured it out and have a recipe to fix it? I was thinking of a Savage since I have a brand new B&C stock I got in a multi-trade sitting in the closet.
I might just get rid of the stock and try to get a new Mossberg MVP.

Sucks since alot of people were tooled up to make savage barrels in blk/whisper. But if you want a flawless out of the box custom rifle I suggest a rem with a ptg bolt or if you want to save money get a howa 1500! I hope the savages do well, I wouldnt mind one with a dm and a mcm stock

I called& visited with Fred@ SSS a while back& he did some measuring and while I don't remember the exact angle, the fireball length cases take a very extreme angle exiting the chamber. much steeper than the 223.
Fred was the one who told me about the mushroom ejector, he had a 30, or 6mm BR that was especially problematic about ejecting, so he adapted the idea from another rifle. If the tweaks he told me about didn't work, I would have gladly sent my bolt head to him for retrofitting. for a reasonable price too. iirc~$50.

I'm getting ready to do a .45ACP on a short action but my plan is to get a lefty bolt head and cut a micro port on the left side just at the end of the barrel. I like simple solutions.

what about removing the ejector plunger altogether on that one?
I have wondered about taking an action with the blade ejector& bushing the bolt face to fit your case head.

I like that idea. Wonder what it would run me to have that machined? I don't have access to a machine shop anymore.

Wonder why they would even put it out there with no information - n/a, n/a, n/a, n/a, 0. ????? It did say special features - threaded barrel - but picture does not show it. Threaded ???? Wonder if the ejection part will work.....

Dunno on the threading, I bet it is along with 8 twist. They may have fixed ejection but I can only see that happening with a diffrent extractor type all together or a extreme modification to the old type. I plan to call about the x39 model in the next week and will ask.

Sharp Shooter Supply has a larger, longer button head ejector that he says will work. Have 2 inbound for blk and 223. If this does not work - i will never own another one. Savage reps said they were too busy selling Edges to worry about the others right now. Would this setup do better on the 25?

When I was sorting out ejection& extraction issues with my Savage, I called Fred& he was telling me about the mushroom ejector, has he made it a standard item now?

According to Savage, they have 4 different suppliers for the bolt head. If they don't tighten up the tolerences it may hurt later on....
