why not build one,you can build one for about $25 bucks or so.the shipping on one would cost as much or more for a factory one.

go to gunco.net then to image gallery, then to members gallries, then to captskip9 he has a whole lay out on one, also go to ak47.net there is info in the buildityourself thread.on one of the postings a guy shows a arc welder that will weld 1/4" stock, using battries.don't need a x-former just 12volt battries.

The problem is the weight. My spot welder is quite a bit heavier then the jigs and I just don't know how this could be worked out. Honestly, since I bought my spot wleer I have found a few times when I have used it and I like to have it around....

I just don't know about this...?

i am thinking of renting out my spot welder if i can get 5 people on a list to start out with and see how it goes .this spot welder is new 110 volts with the modified lower sheilded tong for getting into the recievers. i am going to cover shipping to the first person to get the ball rolling. so it will be up to others (renters) to cover the shipping to the next person in line . i would like to keep all the shipping insured (200$) ups or fedex tracked so there are no problems and i know where the welder is at and heading. the welder weighs about 25-30 lbs i will be making a box so it can be shipped around with no damage i would like the box to be kept with the welder for shipping to the next person. i want to be paypaled 30$ rental fee after the use of the spot welder but before its shipped to the next person. i dont care if you weld one spot or 500 just please take care of this welder like it was your own.
i would like to have a week turn around time on this so its not gone forever.what i mean is u get it for a week then ship it to the next in line i will need a tracking # to and from so i can keep track of who has it. i would like a list of 5 people before i start to ship. after the 5th person i get the welder back for inspection and freshing. i will also include a copy of the manual but its pretty straight forward on how to use.. please email or pm me with what board u are from and your handle if intrested . thanks. i hope i am not asking for too much here i would just like a nice smooth transaction when this is being shipped and used. thanks

*rental fee 30$
*plus you pay shipping to the next person in line, tracked and insured for 200$

i realize i am new here but i am known on other forums AR15,FSN,AK FILES FORUM, and ebay with over 680 pos feedbacks. i am not lookin to take any 1 here and i am not looking to be taken. i bought the welder for a build party and am just lookin to help others out. i know alot of people dont want to spend the money on the cost of a new welder do only use it 1 time. and i would like to get some of my money back while helping others save a bux or 2

I have invited NN to come and post here after all the requests I have received to buy and rent out a spot welder that I have received. I have enought trouble keeping track of the tools I have out plus my other projects so I figured it was easier to let someone that already has the tools he wants to rent to give it a try!

Remember, the modified tongs will cosyt you more then $20 so this is a heck of a deal!

Now, I am curious about what shipping will cost and are you limiting this to the lower 48? Are you requesting a method that provides tracking? Where are you keeping track of who is on the list and where the jig is and how far down the list people are?

You are welocme to do this here in a thread like I did with my flat jigs but I suggest that you need to do it some where...

Good Luck!

i have a list started but i have not shipped yet i was trying to get people within a few states of eachother so shipping will not be so bad i am thinking shipping will be from 20-30 buxs to ship. tracking is a must and must be emailed to me for my records.. i will set up who get the jig and the order it will be shipped . again this is to keep shipping fair for everyone. i used the spot welder this past weekend and did over 60 spot welds with it. the welder tongs show no wear and the welds came out great i can take a pic of u are intrested in what the welds look like ... i am looking to get a list of 5 people before i start shipping... i will pay shipping to the first person to get the ball rolling then after that its up to the renters to pay for shipping to the next person on the list. use the welder and pay me paypal after the use of the welder but before its shipped to the next person in line... thanks for the invite and i am lookin forward to helping people out.

How hard is this to do? It looks easy enough with the right tools, but I've never welded anything in my life.

It is easy but a few things you want....

1. The 110v spot welder
2. Nice Tongs that have a nice flat edge
3. A little steel to practice with

With mine, I just clamp everything where I want them, tighten up the spot welder, and double check things.... then hit the trigger for about 3-4 sconds using th color and size of the red spot to tell when to stop (where the practice helps)

This page should show you what I mean...
