I stopped by the Sierra booth at SHOT and asked about the 240 grain MK 30 cal bullets, and the guy said that round ALMOST didn't make the cut for this year! I stopped by because Midway has been out for weeks, and I wanted to get some. He did say they saved the round, and will be doing a production run in mid-March, which should create enough bullets to last a few years (his words.)

Anyone know of any other places with the 240 in stock? Or should I take this as a sign and work up 220 grain loads instead? I really want the 240s though. I'm going subsonic, so I want the heaviest bullet I can get for 1000-1050 FPS....

Looks like we need to show more interest and buy more of these bullets or we may lose them! I have a box here at home but I had better start stocking up... thanks for the heads up!

The guy I talked with was Rich Machholz. He did say that they saved it for another production run. I also talked with the Starline brass guy (he was hanging out in the same booth) about the 300 Whisper brass.

So yes, I think we need to tell Sierra to save the 240. I managed to find a box of 500 locally for $170, so I scooped it up. Gots to have booolits!:uzi2:

I noticed that Sierra came out with a new .30-cal. MK bullet at 210grs (stock #9240). Since besides Whisper shooters, the only people who shoot the 240s are the 1000-yd. shooters with the 30-cal magnum cartridges, when I saw that 210gr come out, I wondered if it would cause trouble for the 240s...
