View Full Version : RLL and RRA 2-stage NM trigger?

I was thinking of buying a RLL, but am curious if it will work with my RRA 2-stage NM trigger. It is my only AR, and I don't have another one with a standard trigger group to compare with it.

The trigger has a sear that protrudes up in front of the disconnector and catches the inside of the hammer as the sear releases it (when in semi). when you pull the trigger, the sear moves freely at first (1st stage), until the disconnector bumps into the hammer (not catching the hook, just bumping into it). The disconnector spring is compressed as you continue to pull the trigger, and the sear releases the hammer. It seems the disconnector spring provides the tension for the 2nd stage.

I'm a novice, so please excuse my crude description.

I _can_ manually get the hammer to release from the disconnector when holding the trigger back, but it is really hard. There is plenty of room for the RLL (not a RRA lower reciever with high shelf). I just don't know if the RLL would pull hard enough on the disconnector to work. I thought the disconnector spring would be much weaker, but I have no experience with other lowers.

Can I use a RLL with the RRA 2-stage trigger?

No, you will not be able to use the RRA or any 2-stage trigger that I know with the Lightning Link. Well, you could but you would have to do extensive modifications to the LL and given the LL is worth about $8,000 I wouldn't screw with it as you do not need a soft machine gun trigger!

Thanks!

I love my 2-stage, so I'm not going to mess with it.

I'll just get another lower for the RLL. That will work out best, since I'll probably want to do the select fire mod.

Has anyone tried the flat spot selector + notched disconnector? It seems really straight forward and simple.

I dont' want to goof with the M16 parts.
