The best deal on kits that I've seen is still through Scott at DPH Arms and is still on the Romy's.

I'll give a Tuhmbs Up for the Cope's Kits. I picked one up and it looks practically new, well, minus the receiver :)

AIM also has them for $89. I have 5 of them and the shipping was also very reasonable. I think these $89 kits will double or triple in price like the AMD65s did when the supply starts to dry up a little.

I can no longer find kits on AIM site, plus this last kit that arrived yesterday was no where as nice as the last 1, guess I'll try Scott for the next 1

I just got a Polish underfolder from ammunitionstore.com, supposedly 90%+, shipped for $179.95. I got shipping notification today, we'll see what it's like when it gets here. No accessories.

This is the announcement I found. Wonder what the price is?

"It has finally happened......the price on the Romanian kits has goneup to a level that has forced us to raise our price. Romy kits are not $109."

Yup, it looks like Cope's is up $10 too...

Buy if you got it (cash, that is :) )! Gonna be worth their weight soon.

I was wondering how the price of kits is holding for you? It looks like it is still about the same a month later. Wish I could find a good sale or maybe some cheap ammo?

The $89.00 kits are still $89.00. Figure it this way. A G2 trigger is $34.00 and the Kit is $89.00, this equals $124.00. Both Copes and DPH offers these at this price.

You have to buy the trigger group to make it legal.

I agree. I wish I could stock up.

In addition, Bocefus has some "rusty" kits for $75 +#10 shipping. From what I've seen, the rust is surface rust and can be taken care of with a wire brush and some paint. The barrels are typical Romy: chromed and clean where it count.

I've been looking at them to be a source of spare parts for things I mess up.

I just got two more kits from Scott @ DPH and the kits look like they were practically NEW guns that were cut up. I could barely tell where the bolt had reset the hammers.

If they were any better, they would have to be "New, Unassembled".......

Were they pick of the litter or just by chance?

Just by chance. The 2 prior kits that Scott sent were absolutely beautiful and I didn't think they could get any better.......until I saw these.

Scott's "A" kits (which almost all are) are better than any of the others I've seen. A friend of mine orders from centerfire systems and their kits don't compare to Scott's.

As an added bonus, Scott is an awesome person to deal with on the phone, online, and in person.

Try DPH and you WILL NOT be dissapointed.

Scott @dpharms.com has the numbered Romy's with the G2 trigger for $124. Take the price of the trigger out (about $30) and the kits are under $100.

You won't go wrong with Scott!

Have you noticed how many fewer companys are offering kits at all? Even Tapco has reduced its options but still had kits the last time I checked. They are just selling off those that were already imported bedore the barrel ban went into effect it seems. I have not yet seen cheap US barrels from anyone have you?

Wrangler

No more Tapco kits? Tapco has none listed just now. Looks like it may all be over soon.

You might want to check falfiles.com for FAL deals. Some of the big suppliers are interordnance.com, militarygunsupply.com, centerfiresystems.com, and ohiorapidfire.com. There are many more, just takes some searching.

I picked up a L1A1 kit last week for $300 + tax at the local pawn shop.

Pretty good deal when you consider it came with a receiver and was already assembled and finished + 1 mag

Sadly I'm now up to 24 kits -

5 Romanian G's
2 Yugo Underfolders
1 Milled Yugo Underfolder (for parts)
2 Yugo underfolders
3 Yugo Fixed Stocks
2 Romanian Underfolders
2 Polish Underfolders
2 Bulgarian AK74's
2 Polish Tantals
1 Yugo Milled RPK kit
2 Romanian RPK kits

so my wife won't let me buy any more. I already have two Romanians built (fired one today for two hours), and am starting on a Polish underfolder. It's a bitch too. If you get the rivets in wrong the whole thing lines up incorrectly, and nothing else will go in. I'm going to have to de-mill the damned thing AGAIN.

The best deal I've gotten on Romanian G kits was through Classic Arms. Theirs appear unfired (paper in barrels), and come with magazines and Tapco fire control groups. All for $124 or $99 without FCG or with mismatched #s.

The next best deal is on Polish Tantals from CheaperThanDirt - $152 for an underfolder - not bad. The paint's a bit worn, but the workmanship is fine.

Finally OhioRapidfire has an AK74 (5.45x39mm) for $229. These guns look absolutely new with gorgeous chrome-lined bores, and painted wooden stocks. The paint flakes off easily, and the stocks can be easily refinished.

Get one of these deals. You will not regret it. Avoid the Yugos. They are well-built, but their bores are unlined, and from my experience more than half of them have horrendous bores. By that I mean you will shudder when you look at them. Pitting does not begin to describe the condition of their bores. I would guess they fired a lot of corrosive ammo through them without cleaning them. 2 out of every 5 is useable. I have thrown away two barrels, because they were so bad. In the garbage. One I kept just because it will probably still hit a man-sized target at 100 yards. That's bad.

I hope this helps. There are a lot of good kits out there, and it's surprising given the looming barrel-ban. I would have expected the market to spike in price, but it hasn't seemed to do so.

AKparts.com still has some reasonable priced Rommie kits. best price I have found on flats. They are ok to deal with.
