Have a barrel question...
I have one particular AR-15 that needs a new barrel (no-go guage failure). Bought the thing at a gun show several years ago. Lower is a "pre-ban" era Eagle Arms. The flat-top upper has no markings on it. Checked with Armalite, when Eagle Arms sold the lower in 1996, it went out only as a lower. The barrel on this gun is unique (at least to me), and is of a type that I have not seen before, other than on this gun. The barrel is stamped "A MP 5.56 NATO 1/9"... nothing unusual there. It has a flared CAR-style flash hider. On most CAR-style barrels, you have an 11.5 in. barrel, with a 5 in. flash hider. On this particular weapon (here is the unusual part), there is 16 inches of rifling- the barrel runs all the way up through the CAR-Style flash hider.
Does anyone know who manufactured this type of barrel, or if it is still commercially available?
Pictures of it are attached.
Thanks for your assistance.
