What gives on the suppressors?

About a month ago my son came over to shoot, weather real crappy, so we decided to shoot the .22 lr suppressed out the window of the rear of my house.
Remintgon Subsonics, first shot was just a lil phhut. The second and rest of them cracked.
Today came home with three other brands, first one was a cci and it just farted,,second shot cracked as did the other two brands of ammo. Wolf, and Aguila SS.

Is this a waste of time and Money? Am I expecting too Much?
My 300 WTF and a 9 mm supressor do the trick.

You will frequently find that shooting .22LR through a 16" barrel will have supersonic cracks. You don't normally see the subsonics go supersonic but I have seen it happen. With the shorter barrel of the pistols this happens much less often though some types of ammo will still crack. Winchester super-x and winchester wildcat are pretty inconsistant and will sometimes crack out of a 3 inch barrel. The winchester dynapoints on the other hand seem to be pretty consistantly subsonic through most of what we shoot...rifles or pistols. You need to pick ammo that works in your firearms. The suppressors don't seem to make as much difference as many of them are very quiet but the bullet sometimes overshadows that when it cracks.

If you have your ruger threaded make sure that whoever cuts the threads checks the barrel for concentricity first. I've seen a large number of Ruger barrels which had the bore offset or angled in relation to the outside of the barrel. Ruger seems to be in a hurry when drilling their blanks and the holes aren't always straight or concentric. This can cause baffle strikes if the bore is pointed one direction and the barrel another.

It's a shame to think that someone would indicate off the OD of the barrel as opposed to the actual bore axis...

Good News. Got a hold of the man who made the can, told me to soak it (in wd40 or Penetrating oil) overnight, take it apart clean up and then coat the parts in copper anti-seize.
I did that and it did the trick. Quiet on 16" rifle and 5 1/2 " pistol.

Be aware that copper anti-seize on aluminum parts is very bad. It creates a fairly inefficient battery that will dissolve your aluminum parts through galvanic corrosion. If you want to use anti-seize on aluminum use nickel types as they are much less electrically active. Carbon(graphite) and copper are not aluminum friendly.
