OK... I want to build a bolt gun in 300BLK. It is between the Savage 10FP LE or Remmy 700 SPS Hogue as the base gun.

Who is making tubes for the Savage? I know AAC and others are making Remmy tubes.

Where can I find just the actions and put this together piece by piece?

Thanks!

Justin

Contact a gunsmith. Mine in Salem Ore. built mine using a PTG reamer.Works great! then you can order what ever barrel and twist rate you want take it to them and your set!!

+1 to the above. Spook here on the forums is well respected and does good work. I'd suggest contacting him.

OR

you could order a Remington factory SD model which has been engineered and drawn to spec by NASA, made by master machinists who practice voodoo

Now wait just a dam minute. I thought only gunsmiths were licensed to practice voodoo when it came to firearms.

Before you decide on an action look at the Weatherby Vanguard(Howa 1500). It is a much nicer action and cheaper.

Are aftermarket barrels easily installed on the HOWA?

Thanks for the info, guys.

It's the voodoo that we do...

Mainly based on superstition and religious preference I've settled in on a Remington 700 action. (It's what I know and love as well as have plenty of spare parts); That coupled with the fact that they're now offering a $75 mail in rebate on the purchase of an SPS Varmint:

I find it easier to rebarrel a Howa then a Remington because you don't have to worry about keeping the recoil lug straight. I don't know why but the Weatherby Vanguard is cheaper then the Howa.

Yes, it is a pain. I scribe a mark to use a a reference, but someone who does more than a few should get a tool:

But tools dont always work when you use a aftemarket lug, also the wrench with the built in lug recess is crap on keeping it straight. Just sayin..

I use the Kleinendorst tool on my switchbarrel 300 WTF/223 Ackley.
