Ok sorry....But its was a thought I had at work today when I came across an old article on customizing a lever action when I had a crazy thought.....

Anybody ever heard or seen a lever action whisper.....

Sorry had to throw it out there for shitz and giggles.

first off .. lever action cartridges typically have rimmed cases - which a 300 Whisper, 300/221, 300 Fireball, 300 AAC BLACKOUT, 300 W.T.F. does not have

secondly .. you would have to deal with flat nose bullets to avoid a "chain reaction" in the tube should something bad happen.

there are just too many better choices for the round than a lever action! ;)

It would have a "cool" factor, and get some weird looks, but it would be pretty easy to load a 30/30 down to subsonic velocities and achieve the same thing.

I thought about the rimmed case.....but I also have 308 lever guns. I havent dug one out to look at the bolt face...so I dont know about fitting one to a 223 case. And if your shooting 220 gr. pro hunters....thats about the same as them other 30-30 bullets.

Snipe, I didnt even think of that. Maybe thats where the thought came from, now that I think about it, I think I saw a suppressed 30-30 somewhere around here.

After two minutes of looking I found this Browning BLR in 223

A 38 Special lever gun would work well as a base rifle.

I think I remember somebody took 357 max cases& reformed them into a rimmed a 300 whatever:wink:

Just use 30-30 or 357 Magnum in a lever action.

Bellm TC's. He makes the cartridge you are looking for. I think he calls it the better whisper. Rimmed, should work ok. My plinking and coyote load is a 180 Speer btsp backwards. Very accurate with lots of damage. Good luck, post pics when completed.

Well, this is probly just another one of my projects that never take off. A guy I know needs a 30-30 because he shot his 243 with mud in the barrel hog hunting so Im going to trade my project parts gun for a short action Savage that needs a new barrel

notice BLR has box magazine so no mag tube chain reaction. pump action and flat bullets?
