Hello everyone, i'm looking to purchase an Ontario M9 from a local store. The story I get is that it could be an army issue, brought back w/ the owner. This same person is said to have taken the knife apart, and upon re assembly the guard wobbles. Is this a major issue? Or is there some form of bushing or shim that has been misplaced? Most importantly would it be a deal breaker?

Thank you for your time in reading this

If the tang rod wasn't properly tightened when the knife was assembled you will have a loose crossguard. Use a 3/16" alen wrench to remove the pommel, slide the grip off and use an adjustable wrench (or the proper size open end wrench) to tighten the tang rod.

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully you'll find a ton of useful information here.
