Hi everybody,
just new on this forum, although it was added to my favorites for some time now.
I was wondering.....,I have had my black Buck 184 for about 13 years now and it has seen heavy action all over the world...are there other people here who use their Buckmaster on a regular basis???
Any servicemen or special forces??

Depends what I'm doing. When I go camping I will always have it on me. Although I find my Leatherman Wave more useful. When I go deer hunting I usually carry a skinning knife instead and something lighter. My biggest beef with the knife is that its just too darn big and heavy and thick. I find the grappling hooks really bothersome so I have them wrapped in tissue inside the handle. I know what the knife was designed for but I think they overdid it.
I will admitt, when I shot my buck last year, I needed a heavy knife to break some bone and the buckmaster did perfect :).
So to make it short, I guess I use this knife more for camping and fishing. It did come in handy this past weekend when I went fishing for 2 days. I tied my fish holding line to the ring and stuck knife in ground. Of course I rinsed it out afterwards.
Yep, I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone use their knife? I got one of the first ones offered to the public. I was much younger of course and the knife appealed to me. Since then, I've kept the knife handy when car camping, but that is about it. Just too heavy to carry around. It as heavy as a handgun. Now, I admit, it is a great chopper and I've used it for making tent stakes, etc. The good news is that since its seen so little use, it is in perfect condition. I still carry around the hooks, but for the life of me I've never used them :)
I'm distressed that this thread hasn't seen any action for a couple years. I must admit that I am still curious whether or not folks actually use their
BuckMasters or just look at them.
I'm very found of my BuckMaster as I bought it about 25 years ago when I was a young man and never plan on selling it.

Unfortunately the buckmaster knives are becoming almost too valuable to use. I have 2 in my collection that I basically look at once and awhile... Rex

well, it depends,..... i don't think i will ever use mine. its too valuable now and more a museum item than a real practical tool. the idea is great - create a multi-purpose knife/tool to peel an apple, chop some bones, kill a boar or eliminate sentry,....hm! thats great. however one would probably use an axe or a kukri for chopping, Lile deathwind, sog dagger, Randall #2, Gerber Mark II for tactical tasks,... and Victorinox or Case pocket knife for apple. IMHO the whole idea of one knife capable of doing anything was greatly spawned by movies. I remember those times - knife/crossbow/fishing rig gizmos - all in one!! Buck 184 is a product of these very romantic times. good times as well. for me its a piece of a history and knifemaking. sounds like people tend to leave Buckmaster in the car, while camping,.... and even with SEALs it was not used all that extensively,..... at least a few SEALs that i know never had this thing in use.... having said that its a respectable knife and one could put it to good use providing it will be within a hand reach when needed!
