Was at the range this week and got to see a 300 blackout in operation. turns out the guy shooting it is a manufacturer of tactical weaponry. the name of his business is Triton Arms. He had a prototype up and running and says he looks to be taking orders VERY VERY soon. All i can say is , I WAS VERY IMPRESSED! anyhow after talking to him for several hours i mentioned this site to him and he said he would drop by and visit us! Seems like hes got big plans. i wish him all the luck. after all from what ive been reading there dont seem to be many up and running this caliber and making it READILY available. :uzi2::

This is a photo from the 2011 LMT catalog. I think they are MRP barrels.

CMMG said it will be on their website soon.

I got permission to quote some emails from LMT:
"As long as you keep my name out of it, I don’t mind. However please note that the information I supplied is subjective and subject to change based on outside factors…
Also one ARFCOM thing you can clear up for me as I have already seen some LMT bashing about the .300AAC as I do watch the forums for outside input to our company. We will be chambering in the 300AAC Blackout and not the 300 Whisper....
... I expect the .300AAC Blackout to be out about mid-2011 unless R&D goes faster than anticipated, but securing the ammo needed for final approval will be a bit hard to do as we generally will go through about 100K rounds before we give the full release to a barrel type for production.
For the MWS I think they are doing them in sets of 2. Here is the order I think we will go in but its subject to change…
.243 Winchester & .260 Remington will be first
.338 Federal & 7mm-08 Remington will be second
6.5 Creedmore will be last…
I say that because I know what ammo we currently have in house for testing…
Best regards, _________ "

I know of at least three other manufacturers besides myself that have not been listed that are introducing 300 Blackout producst at the Shot Show. I am working on some integrally suppressed Blackout uppers and barrels that two of the manufacturers are interested in.
I predict the one of the hot trends at the SHOT Show this year will be anything Blackout.

Are the barrels any of you have made so far all 1 in 8" twist, or are some going with a slower twist (1-10, 1-12) for supersonic only applications?

1-10 and 1-12 will work with subs if you handoad. 1-10 will stabilize a 190-220 nicely fyi.

Yes I understand that, but I live in Michigan and we cannot own a suppressor so the fast twist of 1 in 8" does not help me much if using bullets below 150 grain supersonic.

If you are only going to shoot supersonic there are better cartridges available then the Blackout. If you want a blackout with a slower twist any one of us can easily make that for you.
Titleiiredneck,
I know the manufacturers I know want to keep it a secret for the big reveal at the SHOT Show.

Thanks for the info, I already have a 7.62x40mm and 7.62 ARk for the AR-15, but was considering the 300 blackout because of factory ammo. Maybe best to see how things develop and when ammo becomes more available.
Thanks

Thanks for the invite Biggin, lot of interesting stuff here, I'm a knife nut too!
300 AAC projects are going well, looks like weather may hamper further testing tomorrow, but may want to see about running the Blackout in piles of snow!
Going to be doing the Savage barrels this week hopefully, doing another short run of 16'' 300 BLK AR barrels too, and probably switch over to some 700 barrels then. SO busy right now I can't half keep my head on straight, but there is always something going on in my world.
I'm going to be doing as much Custom Shop work as I am production as production gets a bit boring but it is also the meat and potatoes. Among all the barrels gas blocks and muzzlebreaks are also hanging over my head! This whole 300 thing is snowballing on a lot of people.

Cant quite understand why some say theyre gonna be at SHOT but wont say which manufacturer theyll be with? Last time i checked It was Good business to announce who youll be working for, not keep it a secret. It represents PRIDE in your work and those you work for and says ALOT for your product! fellers this aint a peeing contest! its about getting excited because of our RIGHT to shoot and own "cool stuff" is shared by others! im tickled pink Triton Arms is a member with us I :welcome: you and thanks for showing up. I wish everybody that is legitimately producing fine firearms good luck and hope 2011 is the best yet for ya!

I think 2011 will be a defining and fantastic year for the firearms industry as a whole. The ever present enemies of firearms are already ramping up after Saturday's tragedy in AZ, and we will face more trials and tribulations as a result, not to downplay the human factor by business, but facts are facts.
I am full time with a firearms company I do not own, the reason I don't reveal it is because invariably I answer TOO many questions about that job and that company, and I don't mind answering ANY of them I am at liberty to, ON COMPANY time! If I'm here I am on MY time or Triton Arms Custum Shop time, and I'll be glad to answer questions about that. I DID work for Remington, and still do consulting for their Tech department down in Madison NC. Again- I don't answer Remington questions unless on Remington time :) I will say this, the 788 would have made an awesome 300AAC. My work will be on Bushnell's table, and probably Bergara's, however it won't say Triton Arms Custom Shop, however it will be dripping with my sweat and blood. Well- not really, the Taliban can't say that though
Thanks again for the invite Biggin, looking forward to being here and sharing with everyone and make 2011 a WAY better year. This hunting season sucked in our area!

I am sure it has to do with contracts, quotas before releasing, ect. also, although it could be because people would pester the crap out of them too

I have not signed any non disclosure agreaments with the companies I am doing prototype work for but they have asked me not to say anything and I gave them my word I wouldn't, and to me my word mean everything. I also shoot with a lot of these companies at our super secret test facility RANGE X! If they think I will run my mouth on the internet about new projects before they are ready to reveal them I will not be so welcome at the range. I keep my mouth shut so they have no problems showing me and asking for help on new products which means more money for me.

It's actually a Friends personal range which is the nicest range I have ever shot at. He has berms set up at 25,50,100,200,300,400, and 500 yards with target stands and steel targets at every berm. a two story shooting line with a real flush toilet. I was joking with him on Saturday that we have enough manufacturers that come out and use his range for testing we need to call it Range X like Mercury outboards use to test on Lake X. We had a shooting day with a couple of manufacturers, a couple of guys from SOCOM, and some guys from the British SAS. A good time had buy all.

sounds like a very nice setup! Im used to shooting on the farm in fields. we have a "range" here in my county but nothing of any significance. which is why if we are gonna shoot longer distances 300 + we hit the fields. Love to hear about folks gettin' trigger time in. YOU CANT BEAT IT!
