I've seen several members here use the Hornady 130 GR SP bullets.

I ended up with two boxes. One is labeled "130 GR SP" (#3020), and the other is "130 GR SP PISTOL INTERLOCK" (#3021).

I can't find any physical difference between the two. They look alike, they weigh the same, they are the same O/A length...I even measured the lengths with the Stony Point guage that measures at the ogive. They seem identical.

Does anyone know if they are any difference inside the jacket?

Just wondering if one or the other made a better whitetail bullet.

Thanks!

I don't know if these are the same but those 130-gr Pistol bullets are fantastic for deer at 300 Whisper velocities... or ... I guess I should say we have had great luck with them out of a 14-inch T/C Contender in 30/30. They are a lighter jacket so they open up pretty good at mild velocities. They also seem to shoot pretty good as well but I can't quote group sizes as it's my Father's contender and I have never really got to shoot it much...

I have seen about three deer that dropped to that bullet however... great little pill for deer!

Thanks, but do you know if the "plain" and the "single shot pistol" have any differences between each other?

If not, why would Hornady market two of the same thing, with different part numbers?
