The bullets didn't open when shot into wood and I believe the same would happen with flesh due to the shape of the bullet nose. The inside of "nose hole" needs to be tapered too to counter the pressure on the outside of the bullet or the petals will collapse and close the hole on impact--as shown in his picture of the wood shot.
