Spook: I have loaded a bunch of 240SMk's to try this weekend. I'll let you know what happens. I have been getting good groups with 220SMK and 190 btsp by hornady...(nosler200 gr balistic tips keep keyholing though) anyway 1x8 is supposed to be the key!

The one you built me has shot more 240 SMK's than all others, no problems. I have shot it at extended ranges and it stays stabilized out past 300 yards.
squirrel, what twist was tumbling the noslers?

my Ar has 1x10 and I sorta expected it to tumble ( even though it shoots 1moa with 190 btsp) but to my suprise my bolt with a 1x8 schillen was full keyhole at 100 yds with Nosler ballistic tips... but it shoots 220 smk's just fine...

My 1 in 8 Shilen shoots 240 MK's true out to 300 yards or so, but it really likes 208 A-Max's.

My 1 in 8 barrel likes the 208s too.
I bought 500 of them from Midway when they were having a blemish sale at like $20 per 100 and I am hoarding the remaining 400.
Don't tell the 300WM guys you have them or they will pitch a fit.
They only believe they are to be used for 300WM and the bullets are way backordered.

spook .... I will have to measure them this eve. I think that is the problem though. I think the Nosler has a much shorter bearing surface so It might tend to have more yaw.?

I got 500 of them from Midway's blemish sale also. Too good of a deal to pass up! I also got some 125 grain ballistic tips, but they appear to be a one-off bullet made by Hornady, because I can't find info on them anywhere. They are flat based with a cannelure.

Do not mention the 208 word. A long time sleeper with the 300 magnum crowd suddenly finding them and falling in love with them. I have compared the 208 with a 200 Matchking and it is sooooo much flatter at the long ranges.
But I digress, current production is according to other sites, is not scheduled to begin again until early 2011 with the first boxes unlikely to hit shelves in serious amount until April or later the way things are looking.
