Just wanted to share my build of a 300 Whisper can. I do have a BATFE Form 1 with a tax stamp.
Here's the link to the suppressor build: http://www.robrobinette.com/suppressor.htm

Hey man, thats awsome! What grade alum did you use? If you can post some video so we can hear how well it works!

I got the bar stock and tubing from metalsdepot.com and used 6061 T6 aluminum for both. A 1 foot long piece of 1.5 inch round bar is only $10.40 + shipping. I'm an amateur metal worker and I'm very happy with the precision of the barrel to silencer alignment.
I will try to post some video of the can in use. I have shot it but it is quite a bit louder than my .22 suppressors--the only thing I can compare it to.

Hi very nice.
There is one thing you will have to be careful with is that your silencer does not get stuck to your barrel if the thread is tight fit (galling). That happened to me.
Make sure you use some graphite grease or anti seize compound of some sort on your thread.
I have sorted the problem by re cutting the back of the silencer with a larger thread and fitted a stainless steel insert into the back of the silencer.
Notice as well that aluminium and some stainless steel do react together and sometime the stainless can rust.

Nice job i love to see good metal work pics. Do you need a tax stamp every year or is it good for a while?...Bob

It's a one-time fee.

Here's a .22 cal can I just built. The baffle is 1 inch x 7 inches. With the outer tube it is 1 1/8 inch in diameter. I made it the same way as the Whisper can above, but of course threaded it at 1/2 x 28.
Here's the completed baffle

After press-fitting the baffle into the tube--no need for welding with a precision fit

Here's the basic steps of how to get a BATFE Form 1 which allows you to legally manufacture a suppressor:
Set up a gun trust (copied off internet and went to bank for notary public seal) A gun trust keeps you from having to go to your local Sherrif and get fingerprinted and hopefully get his approval/signature.
Fill out 2 copies of BATFE Form 1 (manufacture a firearm)
Fill out 1 copy of verification of citizenship form
Send 1 copy of gun trust document
Send personal check for $200 payable to "Dept of Justice"
Send everything to address listed on top of Form 1
Wait 4 1/2 months
Forms are available for download from BATFE here:

Here's a short clip of me firing a 10/22 with bolt lock using Aguila SSS Subsonic. If you listen closely you can hear the safety click off a few seconds before I fire. This thing is quieter than my pellet gun. :nanabang: Notice my cat in the bottom left of the picture as I shoot over his head:
