Ready to install or short-chambered? Are they at least from a reputable barrel maker?

Thats understandable. Do you know if the barrels are Stainless Steel or Chrome-moly and if they are broach cut or pull button?

They are 4140 carbon steel. They are button with 6 lands/grooves. Stainless barrels are not as good for nitriding.

So whats the story with this 300 BLK? Is it just another code name for the 300 Whisper or a totally diffrent round? Will my ammo loaded using Redding 300/221 dies work in your barrels? Will your ammo work in my barrels?

+1 plus are they turned for a standard recoil lug or other?

They are long chambered. You use a standard Remington recoil lug, measure the headspace, and if it is too much you grind the recoil lug.

They are long chambered. You use a standard Remington recoil lug, measure the headspace, and if it is too much you grind the recoil lug.
Grinding the lug certainly works but keeping the faces parallel requires a precision grinder. With the long chamber approach you also have other options:
1. Buy a custom ground recoil lug. (usually around $25-30)
2. Turn the shoulder of the barrel (rquires a lathe)
3. Shorten the face of your receiver if it needs truing anyway (requires a lathe or milling machine).
4 fire form your brass it to match the chamber with a standard recoil lug.
That works if you don't want shoot factory ammo. You need dies which will match, though most dies have some adjustment.
You may not need anything but a "standard" Remington Recoil lug. Not all factory Remington recoil lugs are the same thickness.
The 700 and 7 barrel thread also fits Rem 600, Rem 660, XP-100 and XP-100R. It's easiest if the donor rifle has a .223 size boltface and magazine.
You get 2.8" plus magazine space with any any of the Remington short actions (XP-100 has no magazine). A bunch more than the 2.28 of an AR-15 magazine.
I found this post on www.snipershide.com yesterday.

For now, call up Mike Mers or John Hollister at 770-925-9988 to order"
I phoned and found the light contour was in stock and the medium was backorder. $15 for UPS ground shipping. VISA/MC accepted.

These barrels are made the way we want barrels for ourselves. Other companies will make cheap barrels soon enough, we are only going to do higher end stuff.
They expect a recoil lug the thickness of a standard Remington.
The part number for a blued recoil lug is F14810, and F97483 for SS.

Let me tell you what "back order" means (as of today).
AAC uses a computer system to track part numbers. The part number which is "on back order" has a bill of materials which includes the barrel and the thread protector. Both sub parts are in stock. But since the thread protector is not on the barrel, the master part number is out of stock, as far as the computer is concerned. So if you place a back order, that generates a work order, which tells someone to screw the thread protector on the barrel, and then update the computer. Then it will be in stock.

This was designed to use Remington recoil lugs.
If your existing recoil lug is a Remington - you can re-use it, as it is a Remington recoil lug.
This barrel fit was designed by an Engineer who (from the Remington Model 700 and 7 drawings):
1. Knew the min and max distance of the bolt face to the locking lugs.
2. Knew the min and max distance of the locking lugs to the face of the receiver.
3. Knew the min and max depth that the chamber may have been cut to.
4. Knew the min and max thickness of a Remington recoil lug.
Then designed the depth of the chamber such that if every part was was as short as possible (to one extreme of the tolerance range), you would have 0.000 headspace.
So it may pass a go/nogo gauge just by screwing it in.
Or it may require a few thous to be removed from the lug or receiver face.
