I'm new to the metal lathe world and came to a project that I don't know how to do. I need to make several mini funnel shape cones with a center hole just like any funnel but in aluminium and mini size. I have an idea on the out side cut but not how to do the inside cut. I have read articles but still not clear since I'm more a visual guy. Any videos to show how this is done?

I don't know about a video but you need to turn the compound to the desired angle and then use the compound handle for the cut. You might have to use the cross slide to rough cut it first then use the compound to clean it up. You can use the compound for both the inside and outside cuts...Bob

Well, I'm just starting in lathe work and not to sure how to keep the thickness of the material between the outer cut and the inner cut consistent. that’s why I looking for a video where it would show all of this tricks and techniques.

As long as you keep the compound angle the same the two cuts will be the same thickness. You just need to look at the edge of the metal as you cut for your thickness. You can mic it as you go...Bob
