Is it true that Phrobis III M9 was available in a knuckle fighting knife

Hi Guy's

I am new here but i have been collecting bayonets and fighting knives for a while, i have the opportunity to buy an experimental Phrobis III fighting knife that i was told was an experiment. It has the knuckle / fighting knife look . It is 12' long and the blade is 7" . It has a paracord handle and is a 4 line model.

Does this sound legit ????

These grips were made by Eight Dollar Mountain Foundry (EDMF) in Oregon and were available several years ago. They were never a US military item, though I know some were submitted for evaluation. The grip took the place of the standard plastic grip and the bayonet latch plate fastened to the back end. As Mr. Moon pointed out, the knife you show has the Lan-Cay M11 butt cap.

EDMF had terminated production of knives sometime in 2006. My understanding is this was due to health issues the owner was dealing with. About 6 months ago I received a posting stating the M9 cast alloy knuckle handles were now available, and believe they were $45.00, so it seems EDMF may be back in production. I think you can do an online search for them. The handles can come with none/black/or green paracord wrapped around the grip...

That was a very informative and enlightening history of the Lan- Cay M11 butt cap!! Gave me the chance to learn something about it too! Love reading about the Phrobis M9 Bayonets and never lose the opportunity to read about them - didn't know that they had they were available in the knuckle fighting models too!!

I have one of these and they are excelelnt, the knife is so well balanced whether you hold it knife way or knife fighting way. Of all of the knuckle knives I have it is by far the best
