Ar15 Pistol build newbee

Need help,Im considering a Ar15 Pistol build,7-8" barrel,Sling swivels,foreend for mounting goodies.Could someone guide me in the right direction as far as resources available,construction tips etc.thx.

Next, you need to understand that AR-15 pistols are a finiky beast and there are lots of guys that have been having problems. One of the best solutions is the Olympic Arms OA-93 upper based pistols. These use a piston system that is much more like an AK-47 then an AR-15 and these seem to work pretty good.

The other way to build a pistol is to use one of the short pistol buffer tubes. The older and original style tubes have been the real issue for many want-to-be AR-15 Pistol owners. There is a newer style AR-15 pistol buffer that is longer then the older system and I understand that it works better but I have not seen or tried one myself... I welcome more advise or a link on these if anybody can help...

My personal AR-15 pistol is a BOLT ACTION as I built it with no gas port or gas tube. This works great for me as here in PA I can not hunt with a semi-auto but I can use a Bolt-Action pistol. Still, it shows how you assemble an AR-15 pistol...

Now, as for the Mil-Std-1913 rail and slings, etc... There are many options to take care of this so yu really need to decide if you have the money to go with the OA-93 style or if you are going the more traditional route with the short pistol buffer tube....

Another thing you might consider is doing one in 9mm or 22LR. Both of these cartridges are blowback so there are far less issues to getting these to work...

quarterbore i am wandering if you had converted your project pistol to semi auto yet and if you had any problems with feeding I am looking to build a pistol project but as you have stated there are alot of problems with feed and I dont really like the longer style recoil buffer behind the reciever one other question can you attach a folding or fixed stock to the longer recoil buffer and it still be legal

I do have a 11.5-inch upper and like others I am not impressed with the performace in semiauto... lucky for me it works great with a normal full stocked lower WITH MY REGISTERED LIGHTNING LINK so that it is a machinegun. I have not had the time to play with it...

ONLY if you register your lower as a SBR or you own a registered Lightning Link or Drop in Auto Sear that you are using in the lower when you gave the stock on... Otherwise, you would be making an illegal Short Barreled Rifle!

thanks for the quick reply so for all intents and purposes its better to pay the fee and get a machine gun and just make it as short as u like instead of the semi auot pistol path

OR... pay the $200 tax and file the Form 1 to make a Short Barreled Rifle...

To buy a rLightning link will cost you about $6500 PLUS the $200 transfer tax and a rDIAS will likely cost you $10,000 or more PLUS the $200 tax stamp...

Machineguns are an expensive way to go compared to SBR!
