A friend needed some cash and insisted on selling me stuff instead of my just loaning it to him. That being said I now have a bunch of new 223 nickle cases. Has anyone tried making them into whisper cases? I know nickle makes the cases harder and was just wondering if it would be a good idea or not. Thanks for any answers you can give me.

hi "Hitman'
I have done 300 in nickel and they come out VERY nice!
I usually top them off with the Barnes B/T 125gr.
I actually prefer the nickel as they are much easier to see when retrieving them from the dark earth color of the local desert here.
Do them up...I think you'll be happy with this decision.

that's good news I would have figured it would flake or crack during the forming process as nickle cases are harder than brass.

hey guys,
I am up to my 3rd reloads using these nickel cases (mostly Winchester).
So far no flaking or problems of any kind, and the cartridges are for supersonic loads.

thanks for the info. I was worried about the case hardness and splitting necks on the first load. The brass is too expensive to just waste on one loading and if it was a problem I was going to try and trade it for some regular brass. I loaded up a couple cases and am going to see how they compare to my LC cases. Again thanks for answering my question.
