Would this round extract better from the Savage? I've installed my .223 barrel and have no problems extracting sized .223 brass vs my .308 that has problems with everything (I just received new extractor parts from Savage, maybe that'll fix it).
If so, where could I get a barrel? Cost?
Thanks,
Paul

My 10FP extracts perfectly. The only problem I had with it was magazine related, so I used a cut down AR15 mag spring in place of the leaf spring, and now my mag problems are solved. I have a Shilen barrel. Order it from Jim at Northland Shooter's Supply, look him up on the Savage Shooter's Forum. They are cheaper than the retail price listed on the Shilen website. IIRC, mine was $314 for Stainless Select Match 1 in 8 twist, 18", threaded 1/2x28.

Cool. I wonder if there's something about the Model 12s and extraction in .308. Savage just sent new extractor parts, I'm gonna give'm a try.
I haven't tried it with the .223 barrel and bolt parts installed but it seems to eject new ammo and sized cases fine. I guess I'm guilty of borrowing trouble.
I'm familiar with Jim, he sold me my rifle but I didn't know he had .300 Whisper barrels.
Thanks,
Paul
