I have a Ruger M77 action I am thinking of having barreled in 338 br. Who can chamber and install a barrel in this caliber? Also who carries dies?

Check with CH4D for dies. Not sure who can work on the Ruger.

CH4D was on backorder last time I checked..but you can get there by opening the neck on a 6 or 7mm BR Type S die with the appropriate tapered expander and bushing.... and a Hornady 338 seater for 338 Fed...shortened up a smidge.

We were making 30 BR dies the same way before Redding came out with their own version.

How about a 458 Socom barrel for the Ruger 77?

I just got a .458 Douglas barrel through Midway and a reamer from Mr Kiff.

Nice barrel for what I want to do with this rifle.

Big D, do you have the original barrel from the ruger action?

Unfortunately its split. We use it in a hunter safety course to show what happens when you fire a rifle with a restricted bore. The guy who owned it only fired it 1 time. It looks like a big Y now. I still can get it but its pretty much usless. The threaded chamber end is fine but its split from about 2" in front of the chamber to the muzzle.

Ordered the barrel today. They had the 1-14 twist on clearance. Thanks for the heads up.

OK, get the barrel, cut off everything thats not damaged toward the chamber end. The chamber has to be completely intact for this to work. What caliber was it?

Went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered the reamer. I think Im gonna tackle this 1 myself. I have rebarreled several Mausers with good success.

Think about .338 THUMPER by BWE Firearms. They can barrel your Ruger in
.338 THUMPER and supply reloading dies.

I already have the barrel profiled and threaded. Just waiting on the reamer and the Socom will be a go.

Got the Ruger 77 barreled. Also built an 8" AR upper in 458 Socom with the left over barrel stub. Cant be wastin' barrel stubs! I just had knee surgery Thursday so it may be awhile before I can get them to the range. Both testfired fine in the snail drum. You haven't lived until you have testfired an 8" 458 Socom in a snail drum fixture.
