Not to try and sound like an advertising plug, but anyone who is currently looking for an in stock ready to ship 300 fireball barrel... Noveske just ran a batch and has 10.5" and 16" barrels in stock. I hear they make great barrels but have no personal experience with them.
I am still on the fence with the whole 300 fireball / whisper thing. It is really appealing, but my lack of reloading knowledge and the expense of purchasing all the necessary tools is somewhat of an entry barrier and is making me timid.
I will probably bite the bullet some day....it is just a matter of when.

all gone - just checked
Well for me that removes a source of temptation for now... I had called them in November and they said they were going to have a run coming up but I purchased a TP555 barrel and gas block in the interim. Nothing wrong with what I have but the Noveske Crusader barrel a buddy has is world class good and shoots like a house a-fire so my covetous heart was yearning...

It doesn't look like you can use a standard gas block with these which sucks if you want to put an adjustable one on.

I'm sure he could as he is pretty talented.
Just warning people that it isn't plug and play but I guess if you are getting into this caliber you are used to that.

actually it is plug and play once you work a load :D but then again noveske also stated he hasnot had any trouble with diffrent loads cycling until he gets below 175 gr, super and sub loads

I called and begged for a 10 incher- and the girl on the phone laughed at me and said relax - I will put one more up for you. So I waited and kept hitting refresh and it appeared and I bought buddy.
website only had 16 in stock when I called - and I'm building an sbr.

I'm thinking that I am going to SBR my .300 build as well. I figure if I'm going all out, I might as well save the $100 on the short barrel and pay it back to the feds along with another $100.
Time to do up a form 1.
It sucks that I can't buy the barrel now and have to wait until the stamp comes back and they may or may not be available anymore.

No reason not to buy the barrel now. Just use it to build a pistol out of a virgin lower. Now you have a legitimate "home" for your short barrel. You can also use this setup to work up loads and whatnot.
When the approved Form 1 arrives, pull the "pistol" buffer tube off the lower and install a "rifle" tube & buttstock.

I have a 10.5" model from a previous batch. I have to say that mine is probably the best barrel I have ever laid hands on. I shoot everything from 125gr noslers to 220gn sierras. This is ofcourse including 147gr pulled surplus. At 100 yards I can get 1/4" grouping 4 outta 5 times with all but the pulled stock. Pulled stock Im getting about 3/4" only because its a blaster load and that kind of accuracy is fine for shooting clays on the hill.
Also to address the gas block issue some of you brought up. I have to say that mine has worked with no modification right from the start. I measured the gas hole *which is posted somewhere on here* at about .0925 - .0950. I find that this size doesnt kill you with recoil on supersonics, and is also enough to cycle subsonics. And just to throw this in there, my 147's are subsonic.
The only problems I can think of in the past 2 years is the finish. Its kinda fragil on mine. I accidently scratched my removing the gas block once. I do usually use clp or rem oil on the barel when doing this, but I guess I didnt use enough ot i was a little too hard with it. But Ive done this so many times with other barrels that I can't see myself deviating from the routine that far.
The other problem is that I don't get to shoot it near enough as I want. But I think that probelm effects everyone who own this caliber.
So get one if you can, enjoy it, and stay safe.

So you are using the stock gas block with both supersonic and subsonic rounds and they all cycle the action and lock back the bolt carrier everytime?
Do you shoot suppressed?

I just got one of these barrels. What powders are you using with the 147 subsonics?

I've got mine ordered and its been about a week waiting so far... I'll post my thoughts once I have a chance to get it up and running.
In the meantime this thread has come up regarding load development specifically for the Noveske 16"...

If you have experience with this barrel, please post...I'm sure it will save people some valuable time.
