Hello,
Since I live in Finland I have very limited access to any other powders than Vihtavuori. So if someone has a good SUBSONIC loading data using Vihtavuori powders, please share it here!!!
I'm going for either Sierra 220grs HPBT or 240grs HPBT bullets. I have 10.5" barrel with 1/8" twist.

I don't know of any loads with VV powders, but I do know that N110's burn rate is similar to H110 and W296.
You might look into this.
Hope that helps

My friend just gave me a back issue of Guns and Ammo magazine, I believe it was August of 2001. I had a reloading article on the .300 whisper. They mentioned using VV N110 with good results, but did not list the load data they used. I would think that a starting load for H110 would be pretty safe, and work up slowly.

Hello Kanttori, you just might purchase the current Sierra reloading manual for any info on reloading with VV powder.
Here are some quotes Ï have read.

I just got an AR-15 type of upper made by model1sales. 16" barrel. 1-8 twist.
No modification done to gas block.
The loads & fps is worked up in this barrel, with a silencer.
Bullet: Sierra 220gr matchking(#2240)
Case : 221 Fireball(remington). If you use 223 brass internal volum may vary,
and pressure & fps will not be the same.
Case overall length: 34.6mm/1.362"
Primer: Winchester small rifle(WSR)
Cartridge overall length(C.O.L): 57.6mm/2.267", because of magazine length.
Max c.o.l. in "my chamber" is 59.3mm/2.335".
WARNING: Some bullets(ex. remington 180gr spitzer will touch the rifling
before you reach max magazine length!
Measure to be sure. You may do as follow:
Close the bolt.Take your cleaning rod(not the threaded open end, but flat end) and insert it from muzzle end until it touch the bolt. Mark rod at muzzel. Remove bolt assy. Insert bullet of your choise in chamber. Hold bullet against rifling with a pencil. Insert rod. Mark at muzzle. Difference between marks is c.o.l.

ALL other loads posted will!!!

Around 1000/1040fps there will be no bullet noise. Above this it gets louder until you reach appr 1300fps where the sonic crack comes into play.
When working with subsonic load and different powder combo. Make sure the bullet leave the muzzle!!! It may be stuck in there, & you will be very sorry next time you pull the trigger. At lowest load, look into barrel to be sure.

Interesting on the case length. I have a M1S barrel and I had problems with the 1.400 cases someone made for me. Got any other spec's on the barrel I would appreciate it. Thanks TORSTEIN

I have specīs on file from different barrel makers, and I have done some actual tests myself.
Have C.O.l. & related info for your gun.
You have some questions, but before I get into it. What is the problem(s)??
Is it only that specific caseses, or if you have, cases from other "manufacturer" that cause you a problem?
Military or civilian? What brand?(mix?)... 223 or 221 cases?
Try to explain what is happening with the cartridge & gun combo.
Best regards
