Hello,

What bullets you're using with your subsonic loads? Since I haven't done any so far I was wondering what's the best bullet weight/shape for this purpose. I'm a bit concerned about feeding as well. Midway sells 200grs Lapua subsonic bullets, are these heavy enough? I have a 10.5" barrel on my AR. What about feeding, any issues with these bullets?

Thanks!!!

Kanttori I am in the process of building an AR in 300 Whisper myself. The rule of thumb for subsonic loads is to use the lightest bullet that will stay subsonic in varying temperatures and altitudes and will still cycle the action. The heavier the bullet the stronger the backpressure is to cycle the bolt and carrier and also a suppressor will increase backpressure. Just make sure your bolt face is clean and you have a good mag and there should be no feeding problems. Personally looking at current load data I would go with the 240 grain bullet since some AR are showing cycling problems. Good luck with your project.

Guys - it seems midway only offers the 200 grain FMJ... Has anyone found a storebought subsonic production bullet that is other than Full Metal Jacket...
I am searching for somthing to shoot in a 308 DPMS , 16"brl w/ 1x10 twist and supressor...

Thanks
Zeb

220 Hornady RN, 9.5-10 gr VVN110 cycles my AR's w/ .125 port dia. . AA1680 to the tune of 10.4 gr with the same bullet if VVN110 is too fast or your port is smaller.
