Have noticed that folks seem to use 20 round mags for the 300 Whisper. Is there a problem with 30s?
What mags have you found to work well?
All of my parts are in save for the Black Rain billet Upper/Lower pair and I expect those late next week.
The following parts will be used in the project:
16+" SS Paladin barrel and 3 position gas block
.308 caliber YHM Phantom flash hider/comp
YHM full length lightweight free floating handguard
RRA 2 stage National Match LKP
Mil-spec buffer tube with LMT SOPMOD stock
Have mocked up the barrel in another upper but not installed a gas tube so the Paladin 3 position gas block is set in the off position. Was finally able to make brass that works from LC 97 5.56x41 using a small base sizing die and a 300/221 Redding die set.
A load of 13.4 gr of 2400 with 147 gr FMJBT projectiles seems to do a decent job of fireforming the brass and is easily extracted. A subsonic load doesn't blow out the shoulder at all.
Single round feeding from old Colt or AdventureLine 20 rnds mags seems to work OK.
