I was experimenting with .223 brass and all cases are caved as you can see on the picture. All was lubed well inside and out. And this are Redding dies that work well with .221 fireball. Any ideas what I'm missing?

I did that once with a .204 case and it looked good, no problems.

What expander did you use? I may have started with a .22, then used a .270 then .308.

Classic hydraulic dents.**** To much lube on the outside of the case******
Clean the die and start over with less lube. Ask me how I know:smile:

I thought more is better when it's tight

Thanks

As previously noted-lube dents from excessive goop.
Never noticed that it needed extra lubrication to make my 300 W from 223 brass- try Imperial Sizing Lube- give a slight wipe with your fingers lubed with Imperial and go to town.

do check the thickness of the necks if using Mil. brass may be thicker than you want and need to trim off a few thousands.

I would check the neck as well. I have used a munch of PMC brass and some LC and have so far not had a problem.

I've had better luck trimming them first . It gives less surface area to build pressure up on ..
