I noticed bushmaster sells a Bolt Carrier Converter now...

If you had a AR15 carrier with this, it would probably still be an AR15 carrier and not m16? (legally)

Also, the "straight through" carriers that colt produces now, i wanted if these converters could be milled down to work on those, and make them LL compatible.

I have not seen deviced to "clamp on" carriers like this until now, but i have heard of them.

Out of my curiosity, does anyone know of an "SP1 Spec" carrier that works with the RLL? I mean, any carrier that will trip an RLL. Or should I just get get a regular AR15 carrier and mill it down to .650 and put a slight bevel? I would feel more comfortable if someone could point me to an SP1 carrier, please? (or spec) I don't feel like buying another SP1, as I would like the RLL in my newer colt or a bushy.

Thanks,

I am pretty sure that DPMS carriers are SP1 spec but I don'y own one. do you have a link to the converter you are refering to? If this is one of the conversion units used to convert an AR-15 carrier to M-16 specs then this would be a machine gun part and depending on your local and state laws will affect your use in an AR-15.

As for new open carrier... I doubt this would be a desirable way to go as the carrier takes a lot of slamming and wthin an closed carrier this piece is held in at the rear. With an open style, I would wory about the thing coming loose and it isn't something I would want to risk with my lower.

The Converters Suck and always move and need reajustment. A Constant PITA. Just buy a 16 carrier and give yourself a pat on the back for your good choice and savings.

I thought that the m16 carrier didnt work with the rLL. See this link from quarterbore:

I have a Colt LE6921 SBR that came with an M16 BCG, and I was under the impression that the rLL wouldnt work with my M16 bolt carrier, so I was shopping around for another one. But if the M16 carrier will work, then obviously I dont want to get another one. So will the M16 carrier work or not?
