So I'm considering doing an integral semi. I know from working with other integrals (mp5-sd) that porting releives pressure and slows the bullet.

Is that the only reason? Would there be any reason at all to do that on a whisper where the loads will be specific to the gun anyhow? Seems wasteful to slow a bullet that could have just been loaded as a subsonic

or am I missing something?

Porting is primarily to decrease the velocity so there is really no need to port if you are loading subsonic. In reality shooting subs through a ported barrel may increase your chances of sticking bullet in the barrel. Like the MP5SD where warnings are given to avoid subsonics for that reason.

However, it may help accuracy slightly to put a port near the muzzle on each side. Venting the gas prior to the bullet leaving the muzzle makes a perfect crown less important and cuts down the turbulent gas that may destabilize the departing bullet.

Frank, that's very interstng about the ports at the end of the barrel. Thank you, I'll look into that.
