So, someone was the successful bidder on the Phrobis PI bayonet (whomever O**M is). If he be a Forum member, well played, sir! I took a good look @ the cutter plate and I believe if you zoom in you can see the number "1" stamped above the lug. My example is number "3". Since the seller stated he got his XM9 #A15 from Homer Brett in the early 1990s, it seems likely the Phrobis PI M9 also came via him. My example came with a provenance from H.B.

I would have been happy with the $356 LanCay. I told myself that if it went over $300, which I was sure it would, I would have to pass. I watched it until it ended and came really close to putting in a $375 bid. Just can't spend any more $$ right now. Congrats to all who bid and won those M9's.

Well, the price realized would have been much higher if the seller did not reject all foreign (internatonal) bids. Am not sure if you were paying close attention to this auction earlier on, but, at one point, it was at about $2500 with 4-5 days left. Then the seller let a few international bidders (such as myself) know that he would rather sell it to an American only and cancelled all foreign bids (which was many for this particular auction). That is his perogative and his right -- I will not question it at all. A seller can do as he pleases.

As a result, though, the end selling price was about $2000 less than when he had international bids (which were cancelled). Go figure... since he allowed other nations to bid on his other auctions, just not on the plastic LanCay auction.

I was thinking the same... sure is that allowing international bidders usually increase the final auction price.

In one of his emails when I asked permission to bid on the clear plastic LanCay, he implied that it deserved to be kept in America only, but all other M9 bayonets were fair-game for international bidders. :frown:

Like I said earlier, the seller can do as he wishes, but he could have made $2000 more by allowing those other bidders.
