Does anyone have a good contact method for AR15Barrels.com? The e-mail address he posted on the website (randall@ar15barrels.com) does not work. I'm trying to see about getting a short 300 whisper barrel.

You'll have much better luck buying a barrel from one of several forum members here. Randall is notorious for his (lack of) customer service.

I haven't done any business with AR15barrels.com, but I've heard (from several people) the same thing Interceptor said above.

The story goes that Randall got in over his head, took on too much work. He does great work-- when he does it.

Not sure if he took money and ran, but he has had a lot of peoples money for a long time, delivery times way behind. There are many threads on such on AR15.com.

Thanks for the info! Since I have a lathe of my own, I decided to buy a chamber reamer and a blank and give it a try myself. Reamer's in the mail now. Wish me luck!

Just wanted to report success in making my first 300 Whisper barrel. I picked up a .30 cal blank from Midway and called up PTG and purchased a chamber reamer and a set of headspace gauges. I turned a 7.5" barrel for my M16. My goal was to get a heavy-hitting subgun-class round with a low cyclic rate in the '16. Well, 200 grain Sierra MatchKings in the 300 Whisper platform certainly fits the bill, with a muzzle velocity of 1040 fps and an IPSC power factor of 208.

I used a JP adjustable gas block for this first one but it turns out I got the gas port dimension just right, so I don't think I'll need an adjustable block anymore unless I decide to go supersonic with this upper.

So far (about 100 rounds) the package is very reliable in both semi and FA modes.
