Hello, I am looking for a Silva type 12 compass as the one that I had for my Buckmaster 184 was lost. Does anyone know where I might buy a replacement? I have checked on e-bay without any success. Thanks in advance for any help.

The Type 12 Compass is alive and well. Silva is now part of a larger company. Brunton, Nexus, and Johnson. The Compass is produced by Silva, but no longer has the Silva logo on the back. It simply reads, "Type 12 - Sweden". I have spoke with Ryan at Brunton and he assures me that the compass is still a Silva, but due to changes in the the company, they had made some changes. The compass runs about 11.00 dollars, and maybe about 2 to 3 bucks for shipping. Hope this helps.

They run about 12.00 bucks apiece. Brunton, Johnson, Nexus, and Silva, are now all one company. They simply put different names on their products. Contact me for more information if you like. pliedes_@hotmail.com

Brunton, Johnso, Nexus, and Silva are all under one roof. They have changed their distribution based on the type of product. Essentially, they are all the same manufacturer. Brunton is now responsible for distributing the Type 12 compass. Still catalogued as a Type 12. The back will read, "Type 12 - Sweden" I have spoke with Ryan at Brunton, and he has assured me they are the same compass. They run about 12 bucks then add shipping and handling.
