Using a 168 grain bullet and my available powders are #9, #1680, and Enforcer.
I'm thinking of starting with 8.2gn of #9, 10.5gn of #1680, and 8.4gn of Enforcer but I'd like some experienced opinions.
Seems like most subsonic data is for the 220+ grain bullets.

I have just loaded 50 of the 168's w/8.1 grains of AA#9 and will try out tomorrow. I loaded the heads backwards to see how they perform...will let you know...

is it really possible to load them head first???? One would think the rim would be too wide to fit in the chamber.....or were you referring to bullets which is an accepted term for the pointy thing loaded into the cartridge case mouth.
Just checking

The use of the plural "heads" should suggest that I was referring to the "pointy things" :)

Ok ... loaded the pointy thingies (168 grain) backwards.. shooting through a 10" SBR'd contender.. 8.1 grains of AA#9. About 70 degrees.. no appreciable wind.. chrono'd without suppressor...

May drop this to 7.9 grains...223 Brass fireformed to the Contender...the huge disappointment was CCI BR-4 benchrest small rifle primers. This was a brand new box (bought 1000) and out of 26 bullets 10 failed to fire even after two attempts. All primers appear to have very solid hits...will try some on by CZ527....

I see that but since each round has a case head and multiples would be plural its still a bit vague....
Not trying to be a troublemaker or english teacher idiot....though I may be both. I find in doing a lot of gunshows that the folks who refer to "bullet heads, bullet tips, tips or heads" also tend to be the ones that I'd be afraid to have shooting anywhere near me on a range or off. They are also the ones who call every AK semi an AK47 and think all of them are machineguns.
Does it make a big difference in the grand scheme of things???? Probably not.
I'm not sure why it bugs me and maybe I'm just a bit too uptight and proper.
Do as you will and call them what you want. I won't trouble you anymore about it......

Frank... it bothers me not that you are uptight or not uptight. You injected yourself in a self absorbed way into a thread that you were not contributing any real info to...

I also had trouble with the Rem. BR primers reguardless of how I prepped the case. Good fresh primers that was bought before the crunch...But mine always went off after the second strike..No problem with spp's or Fed. srp's. Thought mine was a weak spring! Have a 16.5" Encore that loves 7.2 gr of 110 or 296 over a speer 180 btsp backwards- touching...Doesn't look like it even slows up on broadside deer from a stand..180 sierra - 1 in 5 is starting to key hole at 100 yds. With the wider bt, I was hoping for a bigger hole. "DO NOT TRY THE 208 A- MAX BACKWARDS WITH THE CAN ON!" That one taught me to have the right load before installing the suppressor. No damage, but very close! Good Luck...

I just loaded up a few with 8 grains of #9.
I'll try them out tomorrow.
Thanks for the input.

Do you have a chronograph?

No chrono.
I'm doing it by ear. Slow enough to be subsonic and hopefully fast enough to cycle.

Malaga - check out the new thread "bullet seating problems". Does your CZ fire them every time?

If using an AR I would step that up to 8.5 and slowly work back (without suppressor to ensure stability).

To late.
Just got back from the range. Loads were subsonic and still cycled when I used a good BCG. Not impressed with the accuracy yet but I only loaded 10 rounds to check function. I'll load more next time so I can shoot groups without trying to zero the scope. I made sure they were stable before I put the can on.
