I'm getting a SWR trident 9, 9mm suppressor soon and am wondering if it will work for a sub sonic .300 whisper?

I also am wondering what would be the optimal barrel length/twist rate for this system. I'm thinking I will use 240-250gr bullets, is this whats been working for you guys? I have a SBR'd lower so I can go as short as I need to.

If you only use sub-sonic rounds, the Trident will work, but it will void your warranty from SWR. As far as barrel length, you only need about 10" to 12" to get the job done with sub-sonic loads. I wouldn't go heavier than 240 grains on your loads because you will have trouble stabilizing them. 220 and 240 grain bullets with a 1 in 8" twist barrel should be what you want.

I've got a rem 700 with a 16" barrel that i have been shooting with a SWR trident on it. i wrote them, and they said it was fine for subsonic rounds. they didn't say anything about the warranty being voided for using it??

I'm using 220gr smk's over 8.8gr of N110 that is good for 1,045 fps.
I will say it is a little louder than i thought it would be, so don't get your hopes too high. we do have a .30 cal can on it's way, so i will be fun to try it with that when it gets here.

1/8 twist is what i'm shooting, and i have not tried anything heavier than 220's
good luck

The longer your barrel, the quieter your gun will be. So far as I know, all the 9mm cans will work with subsonic loads, especially from a 16 inch barrel which is about as long as you want to go with the 300-221. Obviously you don't need the booster.

Another can to look at is the AAC Cyclone-K. I don't recall the price on the SWR, but a lot of 9x19mm cans cost as much as a 308 can. Of course the 308 can can't be moved to a 9x19mm upper like a 9mm can can. If you think you might do that, then get the SWR. The Trident is a decent can according to numbers I have seen. Also SWR seems to have decent customer service.

Please report back how it does. I'm going with a Form-1 myself. I thought that would save me money. That was naive in the extreme. OK, I would have saved money by going with a basic freeze plug design.
