Was there ever an M9 produced, that had no markings other than "mk001212" on the base of the blade. I'm not really sure what the base of the blade is. This was an answer that I got from an ebay seller when I asked him if the M9 he is selling had any markings. His description reads only:
"THIS IS A M9 BAYONET AND SPEC OPS SHEATH
THE SHEATH HAS A POUCH FOR A MULTI TOOL OR SURVIVAL GEAR
I USED THIS IN IRAQ AND IT IS IN EXCELENT SHAPE VERRY SHARP"

Auction # is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160330116066&ru=http://search.ebay.com:80/160330116066_W0QQcatrefZC5QQdfspZ32QQfbdZ1QQfclZ3Q QflocZ1QQfposZ06604QQfromZR6QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ2QQfso pZ32QQfssZ0QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQnojsprZyQQpfidZ0QQsaa ffZafdefaultQQsabfmtsZ0QQsacatZQ2d1QQsacqyopZgeQQs acurZ0QQsadisZ200QQsaobfmtsZexsifQQsargnZQ2d1QQsas lcZ0QQsaslopZ1QQsofocusZbsQQfviZ1, if anyone wants to see it. Pictures are from the auction.

I can't tell from the auction photos, but the information you provided tells me that this is a Chinese copy of the US M9. If it was used in Iraq, someone bought it and brought it there with them. It is not a US military issue bayonet.

Thanks once again for your help. I couldn't find any information on markings like that anywhere. I kind of thought that since it didn't say M9 USA somewhere, it probably wasn't a legit M9.
