I'm having a little problem with the Redding bullet seating die. It slightly deforms the tip of the bullet when seating. Is there any way to avoid this?

your seating die should be made to be turned over one end will be designed for round nose bullets (the way it is set up now) unscrew the top off the die remove the seating portion flip it over viola you now have a seater designed for a pointed bullet. Your die set may also come with a separate seater that you may just switch out.

you should be up and running:uzi2:

I have & use those same dies.
They normally seat off the ogive & shouldn't touch the tip.
Unscrew the seater "stem" & be sure it is open & smooth/clean on the bullet end.
Be sure that you are "starting" your bullets vertically & not some how jamming them into the side of the seater when you start.
I like to seat the bullet about 1/2 way, lower case & then rotate the case in the press 180* & then finish seating.
Let me know.

I just took the die apart and checked it... looks like there is no way the tip of the bullet should be contacting the die. I must be letting the tip hit the edge of the seating insert. I'll be more careful next time and see what happens.

Thanks
