View Full Version : Lightning Link Registry?

Is there one listed anywhere?

I saw 2 threads on HK94.com during a search for LL info, and one thread stated less than 800 links registered, and one said about 500 registered.

If there is no registry, would there be any support for one?

It could be arranged in serial number ranges covering 25 numbers, so some secrecy could be maintained. Something simple like the range of serial numbers you claim ownership in, your name or username, and then your State, as it might be neat to see if one state has a higher concetration of links than another state.

The ranges could be something like:

001-025
026-050
051-075
076-100
101-125

and so on.

Thoughts?

An example would be something like:

026-050 - Joe Nobody - Texas

This info could be posted, or emailed to the person who would update the list/page/registry.

Quarterbore.net seems to be the place where all the LL info is found, and all the other threads link to it, so it would seem a good place to have a public registry if one doesn't already exist.

You will not find any links to any NFA Registry information. This is because it is treated in the same respects as a Tax Return which it is and is held in same regard of privacy.

I think you missed my point... it was more of making a list of finding out how many there were, where, and so on.

It would be a registry built solely on the info provided by the owners, as much as or as little as they prefer, if any, with nothing provided by outside sources.
My tax info is private unless I choose to disclose it to you, but there wouldn't be any real tax info disclosed in the registry I had in mind, just an owner claming ownership in a serial number range and where they were geographically maybe, but it appears there is little to no interest in it after all:smile:

No I don't think you understand ANYApproved Form 1,2,3 or four is a Tax Return File by law. Not many are going to help you in your quest of this information. Good Luck anyway.

The last line in paragraph 3 will tell you why.

Yes, I was aware of that completely, and still am aware of it:wink:

If you tell me you made $xxxxxxx income last year, and you got a refund check for $xxxxx, is it illegal that I know because you told me that info? Of course not.

What I suggested was a user built registry, much like a classic car registry compiled of info from the owners. It is a pretty common idea... http://www.gti16v.com/gti16vor.htm or http://www.directcon.net/lcshepp/PC800OwnRegFil1.html or http://www.nationalcorvetteregistry.com/ and the like.

You don't give your FFL or SOT numbers, you don't give the purchase price, you don't tell the tax price (big shocker, we all pay the same tax:rolleyes: ), you don't tell who sold it, you don't give your mailing address, you don't give the exact LL serial number, you don't give out anything very important at ALL, besides the fact you own one, and where you live, and an APPROX. serial number of the link you own.

Not many are going to help you in your quest of this information.

That seems to be the case, which is OK as well, the only people who would care about a list like that would be lightning link owners, but if there is no interest, then there is no interest.

It would be giving no more info than owners do now by posting something like "they are having trouble with their RLL in gun brand X and can anyone help, it is one of the later lightning links with the symetrical scallops so it'll go in upside down. Thanks JohnL in Arizona'.
Now, anyone with eyes can see someone named JohnL in Arizona owns a RLL with a higher serial number just by reading his post. That is all the more info that I suggested be added to the owners registry.

It had absolutely nothing to do with the NFRTR or getting the info from the NFRTR itself, just info provided by the owner if he wishes:smile:

Anyway, it was just a thought, nothing more.

You're still missing the point, but it doesn't matter.

Yes, I know that.

If I tell you how much I made last year and how much in taxes I paid, you won't go to jail for knowing, and I won't go to jail for telling you.

User supplied info. Like any car registry site you google. Corvette Registry, 16vGTI Registry, and so on, and so forth. Nothing at all to do with getting info FROM the NFRTR.

Not many are going to help you in your quest of this information.

Only LL owners could contribute, and only they would benefit.

Frankly, it is really not a big deal, and I've put more effort into trying to explain what I was thinking of as compared to what I wanted to put into the entire project, so it is OK nobody gets it or supports it:grin:

 Ok pay close attention:wink: Some folks have had a Really HARD Time getting Sign Offs. So they either form LLC's or Trusts * In My Opinion Not As Good As An LLC.

Now my Point Being: 1. Your Cleo Would Not Sign Off For Your NFA Item. A.He Therefore doesn't Know You Aquired It:cool:

2. Why In God's Green Earth Would You Now Share This Information:confused:

3. You Wouldn't:grin:

Herein lies the problem you face trying to compile such a list

I hope you can follow the thinking here but to be terribly honest it just Isn't Going To Happen.

Once an individual has had to Circumvent a CLEO Sign Off he is very unlikely to share Any Information of his NFA Holdings.

I'm late on this post but I'll play - my tinfoil hat not too tight today and I'm curious on this as well.

(Also local CLEO is my Class 3 dealer and even though I used trust he processed deal so it is on his books anyway - if you are legal on Class 3 then local CLEO will get your name from Feds anyway if they come after our toys)

Mine is in the 400 - 450 range and I think I remember seeing one on SubGuns over 500. I can't think of any over 600 though.

If anyone has one over 500 or above just post your range like I did and lets get a rough estimate.

Just my .02 as usual.

Mine is in the 2xx range (I think) but as suggested above, I would not want to post my serial number in a registry.

Now, as for the numbers made, there were numbers posted in the Small Arms issue where they did the review of the SWD LL and SWD DIAS but I would need to search for the issue as the issue is at least 10-years old now.

Mine is between 76 & 100; I've shot about 4K rds using it, and it showed light usage before I got it
