Ok so I am looking at building a 300 whisper AR but have not yet begun. I am also doing as much research as possible on the cartridge. I ran across a site that looked like the guy used 30cal carbine bullets in the loading process. Is this possible or is it 308 bullet only? I was thinking that maybe I could use master blaster 30cal carbine bullets if he ever gets up and running again.
Fortunately 30 carbine is a .308 diameter bullet so you can load them. You loose the ballistic gains that many people like and when you go with a really short cartridge other feeding problems may show up. In the long run with an AR you will find that sharp pointed cartridges that are almost the maximum OAL function the best. I say this after loading up quite a few 180gr round nose 300/221 cartridges but at .13 a round what can I say .

Where are you getting those bullets from?
Another member here mentioned Natchez had Sierra 180s in bulk for something like $60 per thousand so I jumped on them without hesitation. Last I checked they didn't have any more at that price. I am fortunate enough to still get LC once fired brass for $30 per 1000 so I am not doing too bad after the second loading.
